Home cleaning and ironing by the hour in San Roque

The most common complaint from people who have had a cleaner for years is always the same: the house looks fine on the surface, but there are things that never get done. And it is usually true, and it is not the fault of whoever comes. It is that two hours a week does not stretch to what people assume it does, and almost nobody has ever put in writing what is included and what is not.

Two different jobs that almost nobody separates

Weekly upkeep keeps a house liveable and pleasant: kitchen, bathrooms, floors, dust and beds. It is what you notice day to day and what makes coming home feel good.

A deep clean does something else: it deals with what builds up over months without being seen. Inside the extractor, the oven, behind the washing machine, the skirting boards, the tops of wardrobes, the outside of the windows.

They run on different logic and different rhythms. Putting both inside the same weekly contract is what produces the permanent sense that something is being left undone, because something is.

In writing, from day one

When we start in a house we hand over the list of what the weekly service includes and the list of what it does not. It is not a technicality or a way of dodging work: it is what lets a client know what they are buying.

The alternative is what the industry usually does: nobody says anything, the client assumes everything is covered, and six months later there is an awkward conversation about why the oven has never been touched. That conversation is avoided by a single sheet of paper.

When to do the deep clean

The two periods that work are before the summer, in May or June, and in autumn, when the terrace season closes and the house is prepared for the months spent indoors.

It is quoted per property rather than by the hour, precisely because the scope is defined and does not depend on the clock. Book it early: those are the weeks of the year when everyone asks for it at once.

A place with no season

San Roque has the advantage that its homes are lived in evenly all year. No months with the house shut up, no summer peaks like the tourist coast. That means upkeep can be planned as something stable: the same day, the same person, for years.

In the coastal parts of the municipality, Guadiaro and Torreguadiaro, it looks more like what we do in the beach urbanisations, with summer reinforcement. We decide by looking at the house, not at the postcode.

Ironing

Within the same hours or as a separate service. We need the laundry washed and dry, a stable surface, and to be told what goes on hangers and what gets folded.

How we start

A short visit to see the property, the list of what is and is not included handed over in writing, and a proposal of hours with no minimum term.

Questions we get in San Roque

What exactly does the weekly service cover?

Kitchen and bathrooms in full, floors throughout, dusting of visible surfaces, beds made and bins emptied. That is what genuinely fits into two or three hours a week in an average home, and we hand it over in writing so nobody has to guess.

And what is not included?

Inside cupboards, the extractor dismantled, the oven properly cleaned, skirting boards, exterior glass, behind appliances, mattresses and heavy textiles. None of that fits into a weekly visit, which is why it is quoted separately twice a year. Saying so at the start avoids the feeling of paying for something that never arrives.

Can you come when we are not at home?

Yes, that is the usual arrangement. Access is agreed in writing, with a key register or a coded key safe, and the same person comes every week. If someone else ever has to attend, we tell you beforehand with a name. Nobody turns up unannounced.

Are they properly employed and insured?

Contract and registration with the Spanish social security system, plus company public liability insurance. They are two different things and worth asking about separately: registration protects the cleaner if she is injured at work, and the insurance covers damage caused in your home.
